In the race to attract medical tourists, Mexico has lagged behind other developing countries such as India, Thailand, Singapore and Brazil. The Joint Commission, an independent, nonprofit group based in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, evaluates and certifies health-care organizations around the world that meet a set of quantifiable standards. The commission determined that 11 hospitals in Singapore met its standards of care, as did nine in Brazil while Mexico has only two: San Jose and Christus Muguerza Alta Especialidad, both in Monterrey.

Highly Recommend Hospital San Jose Tec De Monterrey - I can highly recommend this facility in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. I can't tell you how wonderfully we were treated by the Medical Staff. During what was a very scary 21 day stay we were given every consideration and help they could extend to us. The hospital itself is top of the line. They claim the accept US insurance and actually have an International Patient Office where they will help coordinate your care. My Mexican Medical covered everything. I only had to pay a Deductible and a what they call a co-insurance. Basically from a $60,000dls+ bill which included the 21 day stay and many, many tests and procedures I only had to pay about 20%.

Also, there are now direct flights from La Paz and Cabo San Lucas (less than 2 hours). This makes it really simple to get there and back. -
